West Princes Street Gardens – joint statement from four Community Councils and the Cockburn Association

The Old Town Community Council together with the Cockburn Association, New Town & Broughton Community Council, West End Community Council and Tollcross Community Council have agreed a joint statement on the Ross Development Trust’s The Quaich Project in West Princes Street Gardens.

The four Community Councils and the Cockburn support the improvement of specific park facilities in keeping with the use of the gardens as a quiet space for enjoyment and relaxation, and in scale with the layout of the site. We do not support the transformation of the Gardens into a commercial entertainment venue, involving access restriction and noise pollution disturbance.

The greenest buildings are the ones that are already built. But, the case for the demolition of the existing Ross Bandstand still needs to be made. The lack of any business plan or indication of scale and number of events and activities is a significant gap.

The full Joint Statement can be found here.
